$1 of every poké bowl will be donated to help bridge meal gap in Florida

Orlando, FL (RestaurantNews.com) Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi, a popular, quick-casual pan-Asian restaurant, has launched a statewide donation campaign in an effort to raise funds for Feeding Florida, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the meal gap in Florida. With the goal to CREATE a hunger-free Florida, $1 of every build-a-poké purchase will be donated to the campaign, with the goal of reaching $10,000. All of the company’s nine restaurants across Florida will be participating. The campaign launches August 6th and will run until the $10,000 donation goal is reached.

“It is important to us to give back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Bento co-founder Johnny Tung. “As a member of these communities, we want to help those around us by supporting organizations like Feeding Florida that are working to alleviate the hunger problem in our state. Ultimately, we hope our donation will play a small role in bridging that hunger gap.

Feeding Florida works to feed more than 3.5 million hungry Floridians every year, including 1.1 million children and 700,000 seniors. Their networks provide healthy, adequate and consistent food supplies to those in need.

To participate, customers can order a poké bowl at any of Bento’s nine locations across the state. The offer is good for eat-in orders or take-out and delivery.

Poké bowls are made to order and guests can choose from more than 40 ingredients including traditional items like tuna, salmon, shrimp, avocado, cucumbers and onions to the more adventurous mango, pineapple or even fried garlic. Ingredients can be served on top of white or brown rice, mixed greens, or the newest option, quinoa (available for a limited-time only).

Guests who participate can also snap a picture of their poké creation, and share it on social media using the hashtag #ArtofPoké. Customers with the best and brightest images will have their pictures shared, and receive their next meal on the house!

Bento has locations in Davie, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Orlando. The concept features a vast, customizable menu including sushi, rice and noodle bowls, bento boxes, poke bowls and boba teas. With its quick, casual service and affordable prices (most dishes in the $8-$11 range) Bento caters to the constantly-growing “on the go” population. Customer favorites include Spicy Cream Chicken, Teriyaki Steak and the Volcano Roll. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, Bento offers dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering.

About Bento

BENTO Asian Kitchen + Sushi is an Orlando-based quick-service restaurant serving pan-Asian cuisine. With the intent to bridge the gap between the more traditional Asian dining experience, and the first-generation Asian-American palate, brothers Jimmy and Johnny Tung opened Bento Asian Kitchen + Sushi in the summer of 2002. Bento was born as a 2,000 square-foot, 40-seat restaurant in a freshly built plaza a few blocks west of the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Today, there are over nine locations across Florida, and a team of over 500 individuals. With plans of continued expansion on the horizon, Bento strives to remain true to the original vision – to present traditional, time-honored classics in a colorful, fresh way – satisfying every appetite one craving, and one city at a time
